This is Bertie my snowboard and it took me 28 years to buy one of my own. I’m very proud of my board but to be honest, It’s a little on the short side and the edge catches sometimes. It’s a powder board and I needed a longer, heavier carving board which I hate to say, is probably the reason I fell down a mountain last year.
Sometimes I forget how tall I am (which amuses me). I have to be really mindful of doorframes and people often ask me to reach things from the top shelves in the supermarket (not so much recently!).
It can be annoying for things like clothes (I can never get exactly what I want) but it has some advantages. I used to play netball when I was younger (basketball for girls) and also got offered work as a catwalk model (which I declined as I was studying).
My snowboard is 157cm long which should be fine for most women, but for me at 188cm tall, my board should probably be a minimum of 162cm to carve well. I thought I could get away with it but it seems not. I will keep Bertie and let my son use it when he gets bigger.
