This morning I had a lovely surprise waiting in my email Inbox. I sent a Privvi box to my friend Barney in San Francisco so he could photograph it next to the Golden Gate bridge. Barney is a friend who I met in the early 90s working on a newspaper in Prague (that was quite a mini-adventure). He lives in Berkeley and knows the Bay area really well. He’s done the most amazing job of the photographs. This is just one of them and I’m so excited about putting them on my social media.
Look at that lovely blue sky – it’s winter there too but nowhere near as cold as here. I’d really like to be there just now. In fact I’d just like to be somewhere else where it’s warm and sunny. That’s the thought behind these images – the places we’re hoping to be and the people we’d like to see, when we can escape from lockdown.
My friend Mariko confirmed that her dad received the box I sent to Tokyo. I can’t wait to get those photographs as well. I’ve never been there but I’d really love to go. I watched the film ‘Lost in translation’ the other night, which is great.
